Red Bird Candle Co. was created from a love of home, fragrance, family, and intentional living. We hand-pour clean-burning candles using a natural soy/coconut wax blend, phthalate-free fragrance oils, and cotton/paper wicks, along with mini diffusers and room + linen sprays made with the same non-toxic, clean ingredients for a safe and beautiful scent experience.
The name Red Bird honors my grandmother, Lillian Elizabeth Kennedy, whose kindness, wisdom, and love shaped so much of who I am. Cardinals remind me of her and symbolize hope, comfort, and the reminder that the people we love are never far away.
One of the first sparks of this journey came in 2015, when I purchased a beautiful candle handmade in Poland — especially meaningful because my mother’s side of the family is Polish. My grandfather, Matthew Henry “Hank” Zultanski, served in World War II as both a tank driver and Polish-American interpreter, and that candle felt like a small tribute to him, my heritage, and the family I love so dearly. When the candle was finished burning, I decided that someday I would learn to make candles myself and give beautiful vessels a second life.
After later experiencing a minor health concern and learning more about the toxins often found in traditional candles, I began creating clean-burning alternatives I felt good about bringing into my home and around my family. In 2025, I officially launched Red Bird Candle Co. — a business rooted in warmth, nostalgia, family, and purpose.
