The name Red Bird honors my grandmother, Lillian Elizabeth Kennedy, whose kindness and love shaped so much of who I am. Cardinals remind me of her and symbolize hope, comfort, and the reminder that the people we love are never far away.
I've always loved burning candles in my own home and gifting them to family and friends. There's something special about the way a beautiful fragrance and the soft glow of a candle can make a house feel more welcoming, create lasting memories, and let someone know they're thought about and loved.
One of the first sparks of the Red Bird Candle Co. journey came in 2015, when I purchased a beautiful candle handmade in Poland — a meaningful keepsake honoring my Polish heritage and my grandfather, Matthew Henry “Hank” Zultanski, a World War II Veteran serving as both a tank driver and Polish-American interpreter. When the candle was finished burning, I decided that someday I would learn to make candles myself and give beautiful vessels a second life.
After later experiencing a minor health concern and learning more about the toxins often found in traditional candles, I began creating clean-burning alternatives I felt good about bringing into my home and around my family. In 2025, I officially launched Red Bird Candle Co.
Today, every candle, room & linen spray, and diffuser is handcrafted in small batches using clean, non-toxic ingredients, natural waxes, and premium phthalate-free fragrance oils. My hope is that every product adds a little more love, light, and beautiful fragrance to your home while honoring the memories, traditions, and people who matter most.
